Located at the crossroads, Pinsk of the Middle Ages was very popular . Turov-Pinsk principality had organized its center here. Later, closer to the XIX century, the city turned into a real commercial center and many European traders wanted to get there.
Pinsk have lots of architectural landmarks, particularly the cathedral church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is situated here. (earlier in the XVII-XVIII centuries there was a Franciscan monastery). Church of the Assumption was built on the site of the temple in the XVI century. Church consists of three naves, two-tower, in the Baroque style. The interior of the church is the altar with carved wood, sometimes covered with gold leaf. Monastery architecture is full of asceticism,without expressive fragments. Only the ends of the buildings are decorated with baroque gables, baroque style is visible across the board.
The monastery is one of the most magnificent architectural ensembles of Belarus baroque. On the south several two- and three-storey building side with the church. They form courtyards of the monastery, which was reconstructed by architect G. Guy at the beginning of the XX century.
It is possible to say that the entire space between the main city street and the river Pina is "filled" with the monastery, the church and the tower-belfry (well and related buildings). These places are the most famous attractions of Pinsk.
Church's Pride - painting called "Pinskaya Madonna". Catholic church is famous for its organ, one of the oldest in Belarus. In 1836 it was designed by the master Adalbertus Grodnitsky. The organ is made up of 1498 metal and wooden pipes of different size.
Currently, the monastery buildings situated Higher Theological Seminary of St. Thomas Aquinas.
