Holy Assumption Cathedral

Holy Assumption Cathedral - a monument of architecture with elements of Baroque and classicism. Founded in 1613 as the main temple of the monastery of Basilian. Is a massive domed Cathedral with a height of about 40 meters and length of more than 55 meters. The main altar of the Cathedral was consecrated in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin.
There are two side chapels in the Cathedral: right - intercession chapel (in honor of the Holy Virgin), left - the St. John chapel (of the Nativity of the Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord John). On the right side of the Cathedral built a Church in honour of Prelate Nikolay Chudotvorec.
The iconostasis kept miraculous image of Holy Virgin; the cross with the relics of the saints of God; among them relics of St. John of Korma, righteous Sofia Slutskaya, St. Theodore Sanaksar and Varlaam Chikoyski. Also there are icons with relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker of Myra, St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk, Reverend Elders of Optina, Blessed Matrona of Moscow in this cathedral. In the altar of the Cathedral there is an icon with particles of relics of the Holy Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord and new Martyr St. John of Riga, which are bringing for worship in the days of their memory.
