Mozyr Castle

Mozyr Castle and Hillfort, built in the XII century, is the main sight of Mozyr. The hillfort consisted of the Church of the Holy Saviour and 4 defense towers, the highest of them was called "Ptichskaya". The castle and the fortress, which the Prince of Kiev Yuri Dolgorukiy has gifted to the Prince of Chernigov Sviatoslav Olgovich, were completely destroyed. Today the original appearance of the hillfront can only be sen as reduced miniature. Wooden fortress was restored here in 2005 to the 850th anniversary of Mozyr. And in 2010 the Temple of Transfiguration was built where the Church of Holy Savior once was.

On the territory of Mozyr Castle Regional Museum operates. The Hall of Military Glory of soldiers-internationalists is located on the first floor, here visitors can see the equipment and personal belongings of the soldiers who fought in Afghanistan, fragments of their letters and much more. On the second floor there is a hall of nature, where the collection of stuffed animals which inhabit in the Belarusian Polesie is represented, as well as the archeology room, here you can get acquainted with the evidence of Mozyr antiquity.

Variety of holidays and events are held on the territory. On the New Year's eve two Santa Clauses meet children and adults in the Mozyr Castle. The citizens of Mozyr also fond of "Long Night of Museums", which take place in late May. There is a medieval-style program specially designed for newlyweds. Young couple, their family and friends is greeted by the prince and the princess, who organize a small tour of the castle. There is a town with small towers, staircases and fairy tale characters for children.
