Wooden monatery was created in 1494 or 1495, on the land which Grand Duke of Lithuania and King of Poland Alexandr Jagelonchik gift to the Bernardine orden. Stone friery was built in 1595-1618 with the permission of King Sigizmund III. Some buildings of the complex dates to the XVIII century.
Church of the Holy Cross Finding was consecrated on May 13, 1618 by Bishop Eustathius Volovich from Vilna. The external appearance of the complex carries the features of Gothic (apse), Renaissance and Baroque. The interior is dated to XVII-XVIII centuries. In its design stands out the abundance of sculpture and painting. Here you can find pipe organ which was created in XVII century. In the XVIII century the upper tiers of the bell tower was rebuilt in the Vilna Baroque style. In the same period, the main facade was reconstructed on the model of the Roman Church Il Gesu. Opposite the monastery complex was not existing now convent of Bernardine.
Since 1990, the Graduate Theological Seminary is located in the monastery building. The church services are held.
House-museum of Eliza Ozheszko in Grodno created in the her house, where she lived from 1894 to 1910 years. There are the Youth branch and department of publications in foreign languages GUK "Grodno Regional Library named in honor of E.F.Karskiy" located in this house.
