The history of St. Nicholas Monastery has its roots in the 16th century and is closely connected with the history of St. Nicholas Church. The temple was first mentioned in chronicles in 1522, but monastic cells were built in the temple only in 1637.

St. Nicholas Female Monastery in Mogilev functioned for 82 - from 1637 til 1719. Then it was transformed into a men's monastery, and in 1754 the monastery was closed.

The second life of St. Nicholas Monastery in Mogilev began in 1991. On October 18, 1991 Orthodox Church officially decided to open the St. Nicholas Monastery in Mogilev.

St. Nicholas Female Monastery in Mogilev includes St. Nicholas Church, St. Onuphrius Church, the bell tower, the tomb and the church premises. The monastery complex was restored under the project of architect A. Konovalenko.

In 1996 at the St. Nicholas Monastery the sisterhood named after the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope and Charity and their mother Sophia. In 2000 during the canonization of Nicholas II in Mogilev the portrait of Emperor was, it was consecrated as an icon and gifted to St. Nicholas Church. A five-ruble coin was attached to the icon, Emperor Nicholas II gave it to the boy Semen Halimov during a visit to St. Nicholas Church.

Today St. Nicholas Monastery in Mogilev is the center of Orthodoxy, the source of faith and wisdom. The Monastery has a Sunday school and Orthodox choir.
