Art Gallery was opened on February 5, 2002 as a town's gratitude to the artist who gifted a collection of 50 paintings which became the base of the gallery. The exposition of the Gallery tells the story of the life and work of one of the most reputed artists of Belarus, Gavriil Vaschenko. The wife of the artist Matilda Vashchenko gave the city a collection of 70 works by modern Belarusian artists, friends and students of Gavriil. Currently the collection is constantly updated by the works of different artists and has about 400 paintings.
The paintings of Gavriil Vaschenko are in the collections of 30 large museums of the world including the Tretyakov Gallery. At the same time the largest collection of paintings and sketches of monumental works of the artist for more than 50 years is in Gomel, many of the paintings are devoted to native Polesye. Area of the Gallery is 895 m2. Exhibition area is 313 m2.
A lot of different cultural events for various segments of the population are held in the Gallery. Lecture hall of the Gallery is equipped with multimedia equipment; lectures, meetings with artists, celebrations, various holidays and anniversaries are held here. There are more than 30 exhibitions held covering almost all genres of contemporary art annually.
The modernization of the facilities of the new exhibition hall of 391 m2 was completed in 2011. Now exhibition hall includes exhibition space itself, art gallery and store for artists. There is Art Salon in the Gallery, where a wide range of paintings, souvenirs, books and products for the artists is presented, there is also a children's Sunday Arts Studio.
The family Chapel-Crypt of Paskevich Princes in Gomel is a monument of architecture of the last quarter of the 19th century. The idea of creating a family tomb-chapel in Gomel belonged to Fyodor Paskevich, the son of the famous Russian military leader, field marshal Ivan Paskevich, Fyodor Paskevich owned the Gomel estate from 1856 to 1903.
Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral is the church monument of national importance. The initiator of the construction is Count Nikolai Rumyantsev, the eldest son of P. Rumyantsev-Zadunaiski, who after his father's death became the owner of Gomel. The greatest shrine of the temple were the relics of St. Nicholas and other saints bequeathed by the founder of the cathedral.
Military Glory Museum in Gomel was opened in 2004 in honor of the 60th anniversary of liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders. The exhibition dedicated to the history from antiquity to the present day includes weapons and ammunition, equipment, films, documents, manuscripts and photographs. Gomel State Circus is located in the city center, where there is a large number of public transport.
The capasity of the circus hall is 1544 seats. In each season which lasts from September to May circus holds five-six programs. Programs are formed mainly of performances of guest artists and ensembles.
Gomel Regional Drama Theater is located on Lenin square, the central square of the town. The repertoire of the theater is diverse and will satisfy even the most demanding taste. In 1999 Drama Theater was awarded with as "Honored Actors Team of Belarus". Every three years Gomel Regional Drama Theater hosts the International Theater Festival "Slavic Theatrical Meetings".
Monument to Kyrill of Turov is located near the Gomel Regional Drama Theater in the park. It was set up on September 4, 2004. Installation and opening of the monument was timed to the Belarusian Writing Day.
Museum of History of Gomel was opened on May 18, 2009 with the participation of the city and regional administration. The building was built in 1820-1822 years in the Empire style by architect J. Dyachkov as one of the houses in manor ensemble of Count Rumyantsev.

Gomel state Puppet Theater was founded in 1968. The majority of theater plays are for children. The plays are kind and instructive tales for young viewers.
Zimniy Sad is a monument of architecture of the XIX century, it is a part of the Gomel Palace and Park ensemble.
The Rumyantsev-Paskevich Residence is one of the oldest Belarusian monuments of the XVIII-XIX centuries.
